Palmetto Rowing Club has been on the water since 1987. Our boathouse is the space beneath the Old Oyster Factory restaurant on Broad Creek.

Contact Us

  • Experienced rowers visiting the Hilton Head Island, SC area are welcome to row with us. Please use the contact form to reach out, and we will be in touch!

  • No experience needed. Most of our members had never rowed before joining, and most are rowing solo after just 2 to 3 lessons. Our volunteer instructors teach you on calm Broad Creek, and we welcome ages 18 to 80. See the Learn to Row & Join page for details.

  • Yes, your first lesson is free. A full set of 3 to 5 lessons is $200, and $100 of that is credited toward your first year of membership. The best first step is to book your free lesson on the Learn to Row & Join page, or reach out through our Contact page and we will help you get on the water.

  • We are a members-run club of about 45 rowers, ages 18 to 80, who have been rowing on Broad Creek since 1988. Members use the club’s full fleet of boats and oars at no extra charge. You can read our story on the About page, and find scheduling, tides, the course map, and guidelines on the Member Resources page.

  • The easiest way is to fill out the form on our Contact page and someone will get back to you shortly. You can also email us anytime at palmettorowing88@gmail.com. We are located under the Old Oyster Factory at 101 Marshland Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

  • Annual dues are $350 for a single membership or $475 for a family, due by January 31 each year. A set of first lessons is $200, with $100 credited toward your first year. Members then use the club’s full fleet at no extra charge. Visitors and non-residents pay smaller donations. See the Learn to Row & Join page for the full breakdown.
